Why Didn’t You Say Something?
This morning started like most mornings.
I let Millie—my 65-pound Blue Heeler/Bernese Mountain mix—out on her leash for one last chance to go potty before I headed to work. Then I went back inside to finish getting ready, moving through the usual routine without much thought.
But when I went to check on her, I found her stuck—her leash wrapped tightly around a neighbor’s plant. She couldn’t move more than a couple of feet.
She just stood there.
Quiet. Patient. Waiting.
Looking at me with those eyes that said everything… and nothing at the same time.
As I walked over to untangle her, I caught myself asking, “Why didn’t you say something?”
Of course, she couldn’t answer.
But it made me think… and now I want to ask you the same question:
Why didn’t you say something?
How long have you been stuck—quietly, patiently—waiting?
How long have you been searching for the answer to that question that keeps whispering in your spirit:
“What am I doing with my life?”
Maybe you’ve felt tangled up in expectations, fear, past mistakes, or the opinions of others. Maybe you’ve been standing still for so long that it feels normal.
But deep down, you know… you weren’t created to stay stuck.
You were created to rise.
There’s a line of truth that echoes through the powerful words of “Still I Rise”—a reminder that no matter what tries to hold you down, something greater within you is determined to rise anyway.
And I want to remind you today:
There are no opinions—spoken or unspoken.
No side-eyes, no judgments.
No haughty flares or condemning stares…
Nothing strong enough to stop what’s inside of you from rising.
Your destiny is not fragile.
It is persistent.
It is powerful.
It is waiting.
Just like a diamond beneath the surface—pressed, formed, and refined over time—you are carrying something beautiful within you.
You have tremendous worth.
Let that sink in.
Not because someone else validated it.
Not because you earned it today.
But because it has always been true.
Sometimes we all need a reminder.
So here is yours:
Don’t you dare let someone steal your sparkle.
Don’t stay silent in the places that are keeping you stuck.
Don’t wait for permission to move, to grow, to become.
Say something. Do something. Choose something different.
And when doubt tries to creep in…
Lift your head, square your shoulders, and declare it:
Still… I rise.
